A question we get often…how can you and your husband take off so much time from work to travel? That’s easy…we book many “quickie” trips! Hotwire has created an entire campaign dedicated to the “quickie” vacation and we are loving it! According to their travel team, Millennials are taking at least 5 “quickie” trips per year! Research has shown that travelers prefer short vacations than long vacations because they can take time off of work more often.
How to book a quickie
For us, securing the days we want to travel and a commitment from babysitters to take care of our children is half the battle, right?! Most of the time, we just want a few days alone to experience a new city or resort town. We call it date-weekends and we book them as often as possible!
Hotwire is known for its cheap rates and great deals, but very last-minute deals can pay off even more. We’ve found 5-Star Hotel rates at 2-star prices, and often! Check out their top “quickie” cities here.
Itineraries
Hotwire released 21 of its top quickie cities itineraries. They’ve included all the must-sees and must-dos in each city. Recommendations include restaurants, bars, attractions, transportation, etc. to make the most out of a one, two or three-day getaway. They’ve researched the cities for you, making it easy to see and experience a lot in a short amount of time.
Credit Card Points
As you already know, we are obsessed with earning credit card points for travel. There are times though, that we don’t have enough points to book an additional trip or we are working on earning points for a much larger trip. When this happens, we fill in with a quickie trip that we’ll pay out of pocket for. And you guessed, it…we’ll choose the credit card that we can earn the most points on for our stay. If we aren’t using points and miles, most of the time we’ll book our quickie trips using our Chase Sapphire Reserve earning us 3x for every $1 spent.
