The Goal.
I met with a couple that plans to remodel their kitchen for $40K. They had planned to pay for the remodel by writing checks to their contractor…but after our coaching call, we’ve come up with a plan to earn loads of credit card rewards instead, earning them a vacation to the new W Costa Rica – Reserva Conchal.
The Plan.
For this client, we built a custom credit card plan that includes opening several travel credit cards, referring his/her spouse to their cards at certain times and ultimately earning them a free vacation…just for remodeling their kitchen! They will earn loads of sign-on bonus points + regular points.
Plastiq.
Let me introduce you to Plastiq! Plastiq (www.plastiq.com) is a payment app developed by two Harvard alums. Plastiq allows you to pay for college tuition, rent, taxes, country clubs, auto leases and even a contractor on credit cards. Their service makes it possible to use a credit card for virtually any expense that normally requires a check.
How? 1. Tell Plastiq who you want to pay including; name, recipient address and payment amount. 2. Plastiq charges your credit card and adds a 2.5% transaction fee for their services. 3. Plastiq pays on your behalf via check, wire transfer or ACH transfer. You’ll get a notification via email that your recipient received payment.
The client pays the contractor through Plastiq via credit card > Plastiq pays the contractor a check = client earns mega credit card reward points, earning them a free trip to Costa Rica. Remember, they were doing the remodel with or without the free vacay! And, who doesn’t want to travel for FREE!
