The Goal.
I recently met with a couple who wishes to take a European vacation, summer 2021 to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. If you’ve been to Europe, you know that hotel rooms are tiny and moving city to city can be exhausting (although I still think totally worth it). But after listening to the cities they desired and concerns about traveling in between countries…I suggested booking a European cruise on points, that’s right…credit card points! With Chase Ultimate Rewards, you can book a cruise or significantly discount your total cruise costs.
The Plan.
This couple will earn four different sign-on bonuses through the customized 12-month credit card plan I built for them + regular credit card points over the next year. Booking through Chase will also allow their points to go further. Let’s break it down. Chase Sapphire Reserve’s redemption value is 1.5 cents per point. So 80,000 points is worth approx. $1000. By earning all four sign-up bonuses (personal cards + small business cards), they will have a minimum of $4000 (320,000 in points) towards their cruise + regular spending earning even more points. With Chase, if you do not have enough points at the time of booking, you can apply what you do have and pay the balance with your chase credit card.
How to book.
The Chase portal is limited when it comes to cruise options. Start researching cruises on your own. Cruisecritic.com is a great starting point. Then, call a Chase Travel Specialist at (855) 234-2542 to book your cruise using your points. Before you call: you’ll want every detail of your cruise; cruise-line, dates, stateroom, ports, etc.
Now to the fun. The thought of unpacking once, no trains or hopper flights between countries has this couple pretty smitten! And the 7-day cruise destinations have me jealous…Rome, Amalfi, Florence, Monte Carlo, Cannes, Mallorca & Barcelona. I mean…yesss!!!
