Real Client Success Story
Late 2019, I worked with a newly engaged couple on a credit card points plan. I customized a 12-month plan that would earn them enough points and miles for a honeymoon in Paris this October. We strategized everyday spending, wedding costs- earning them Chase Ultimate Reward Points, Delta Miles & Marriott Bonvoy points. Well, Covid-19 had other plans, and just last week, I met with the couple to re-route their honeymoon and plan their itinerary using their points and miles.
The Goal.
To stay somewhere sunny & warm in the United States. To use minimal points and miles as they still would like to go to Paris when Europe is finally open. To stay at a luxury property, but most importantly, stay at a resort that makes social distancing and cleanliness a priority. Challenge accepted!
The Plan.
After researching the client’s requests, I mapped out a 5-night honeymoon at the gorgeous Ritz Carlton on Lake Oconee in Georgia. A 1.5-hour drive from Atlanta, GA. Weather in October averages 77 degrees. We used 250,000 Marriott points (point savers), including one night free, made this stay very affordable. The clients have Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status and also hope to receive a complimentary upgrade to their room. I found direct flights on United for $104 round- trip/person, another score!
We saved their Chase Ultimate Reward points and Delta miles for a future Paris honeymoon.
The Itinerary.
The restaurants: I made dinner reservations for three different restaurants on the property: Linger Longer Steakhouse, Georgias, Gabby’s by The Lake. In addition, 2 private sunset dinners will be served lakeside at Chiminea.
The Activities.
Paid Activities:
Morning tee-time with lunch at The Oconee Golf Course.
Morning “Relaxation Massages” at The Spa.
Afternoon Boat Rental: Surf boat rental to cruise the lake
Complimentary Activities:
Roasting s’ mores by the lake after dark.
Riding bikes, paddleboards, canoes, and lazy afternoons by the Infinity pool.
