Montage Palmetto Bluffton Resort

October 12, 2020

Americans are still traveling, and brides & grooms are even taking honeymoons. Newlyweds are replacing European getaways with domestic stays. The Montage Palmetto Bluff Resort, located in Bluffton, South Carolina, is a one-of-a-kind luxury property on 20,000 acres in low-country. We loved our stay so much that we have recommended three of our engaged couples to explore this divine property.

The resort encompasses an extensive nature preserve, walking, bike trails, a marina, restaurants, and a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. Accommodations include spacious cottages, guest rooms, suites, and village homes, all decorated with southern hospitality in mind.

Getting there

Savannah International Airport is approximately 25 miles southwest of Montage Palmetto Bluff. Once you arrive at the property’s gate, you are greeted and asked for the hotel reservation name. We felt the property was very secure. From the entrance, you’ll drive another 10 minutes to the main hotel. After check-in, a bellman collects your luggage and takes you to your cottage or hotel room. Just the check-in process had me smiling. In the first 30 minutes of arrival, we saw so much of the property on our way to the cottage. Speaking of golf carts, they are at your disposal. Anytime you need a ride, it’s only a phone call away. The property is so large that this perk is fantastic. Another great touch was the cruiser bikes that were outside our front door. We rode all over the property, one night we rode to dinner and decided we wanted a golf cart to take us back (my dress and heels in the dark were not a good idea, haha). The next morning, our bikes were in front of our cottage again. The customer service is simply over the top!

Accommodation

We were lucky enough to stay in a small private cottage. Although every part of our room was beautiful, my favorites were the steam shower, porcelain bathtub, fireplace, coffee bar, surround sound stereo with in-ceiling speakers, and the screened-in patio. Each night, we would sit outside, listening to the sounds of nature around us.

Dining

There are three main restaurants for dinner; Octagon, Buffalos, and The Canoe Club. Canoe Club being our favorite. It’s everyone’s favorite, so make reservations. We made ours a month ahead and had a hard time securing a reservation. The food throughout the property had both a farm to table freshness with a southern twist. Every meal was delicious.

Things to do

Montage Palmetto Bluffton has an abundance of activities for both couples and families. Because we visited without our kids, we appreciated the adult-only & spa pools.

Below is a list of our favorite unique activities; get ready…it’s a long one! (Check Montage Palmetto Bluff’s website for a complete list).

Vueve Clicquot Picnic and Pedal

Is this just the cutest combo you’ve ever seen? So romantic!

Sunset Sail on The Grace Yacht.

We sailed for about 90 minutes through low-country and saw countless dolphins playing at sunset.

Equestrian Tours

Longfield Stables, a 173-acre farm, boarding is a site to be seen. The Stables include a covered arena, an FEI regulation outdoor dressage arena, a 5-acre turf event field available for schooling horses and special events, the main barn, and a receiving barn, featuring oversized stalls.

Shooting Club

The Palmetto Bluff Shooting Club features 13 sporting clays stations winding through an expansive 40-acre forest. An elevated and covered 5-stand station, plus a wobble deck field, make for a total of 15 shooting sites.

Chase Ultimate Reward Points

Although we paid on our own this time, Chase does participate with this property. The starting nightly point rate is 27,000-84,000 a night. As with any (non-Marriott) hotel stay, we used our Chase Sapphire Reserve and earned 3x points per $1 spent.

All in all, this property deserves to be on your list. We cannot wait to return to Montage Palmetto Bluffton and also travel to other Montage properties.
