The Goal.
💍I met with my client back in May. His goal was to purchase an engagement ring for his then-girlfriend. He had already saved up cash for the ring but wanted to strategically score credit card points so that he could propose on her favorite beach in Mexico.
The Plan.
💳 Yes, this took some planning…but, mostly it was EASY. His custom credit card plan had two personal cards and one business credit card. He used the business card and one personal card to purchase the ring. By doing this, he hit both minimum spend bonuses, earning him 160,000 points. He then used the second personal card for his everyday spending over a six-month period earning him 60,000 airline miles.
☀️ Using only points plus taxes-he booked an ocean-front King room for five nights at The Cape, A Thompson Hotel in Cabo San Lucas, plus scored a business class plane ticket.
💎 He spent zero extra dollars. He planned to buy the ring either way, so why not head to Mexico and propose on the beach?! The best part, she said YES!
